A short cartoon made from the Flapsticks – Explosion Land comics. I created these exploding cartoon/game characters already in 1991 around the 4th grade at school. 🙂
Narcosis the Cat comic strips #54 (2010) and #86 (2010-17). Inspired by the modern day digital printing errors of various kind, 1980s computer games with their low-resolution pixel style, and classic comic strip rasters.
This is one of my most psychedelic songs from 2001. Yet coherent in melody. I used to play around with unconventional various rhythms; I’d like to get back there.
I have called this style of my music from this period as “Renewing Power Experience”.
From the album World Lies in Leaves (2001). This is the first time I publicly release this song on my web page.
This song was on my Narcosis the Cat Meets the Flapsticks comic book album’s (2010) music CD as When It Is Raining from My Paws. The CD companion featured ambient, avantgarde and psychedelic music to be listened to while merging into the comic book fantasy world.
Part 1: When Reality Comes Along
Part 2: Did It Come to You
` ` When it is calm reality comes along; then you can hear me calling true… Long time ago since I left everything where it was, still now it is raining from my arms; for the first time in world – it makes all come to life. ´ ´
Narcosis the Cat cardboard cut-out (2010) painted on acrylics.
Narcosis the Cat is the main comic book character in the wacky adventures of Flapsticks. Check out more comic strips at http://www.jukkaeronen.com/narkoosi-kissa
which are currently in Finnish, translations are coming. The blog will also feature English strips every now and then: here are all the strips currently available.
“Narcosis the Cat is 5 billion years old. She is already very old and tired…”
“Yet Narcosis the Cat always reincarnates again!”
A spoof on Kubrick‘s 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) which is my all-time favorite film in addition to f.ex. Tarkovsky‘s Stalker (1979). I love the scene in 2001 with the light white room and the stargate preceding it. It really feels like entering a whole new another world and universe (more about this topic and flying here).
Etching 24×12 cm (Kangastusten virta in Finnish). Only 6 made with varying colors (some are black and white). This scene is from an upcoming Narcosis the Cat Meets the Flapsticks comic book story Flapsticks in the Land of the Pyramids. It tells about the legend of a Horse of the Troika – three giant horses worshipped by the people of Ee-Gypt.
In this artwork the birds from top center gradually transform into mountains and finally as flying dragons. The labyrinth on top right symbolizes the sun. “Corner sun” is my favorite motif in naive works; here for a change it is presented in a more “adult” and abstract form.
Labyrinths and dungeons are one of my favorite themes – both in real life. We like to find caves and tunnels and wander in them with my friend Kriku who also does f.ex. psychedelic art.
