Photographs: Flying over the Clouds – My first time flying (2016)

I flew for the very first time in my life a week and a half ago. It was totally unreal. I don’t know how people usually take it but for me it was like an out of my body experience. I’ve never felt anything like it. It felt like we could fly to outer space and beyond. Especially flying over the clouds was so dream-like… It reminded me of the best times in the winter when you can ski on the frozen sea and see nothing but ice as far as your eyes can see.  It is humbling (you realize how small you are in this vast universe) and surreal enough an experience. But this icy layer was high in the sky…

And the sun is always shining there, no matter the weather!

Actually, now that I think of it, the stargate scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey is very reminiscent of how I felt – going into a completely new another world. And perhaps transforming in the process, like in the film’s epic poetic finale. Part of my personal evolution, I’m no longer a  walking and running mammal, I’m a flying one. I’m so grateful for the experience.

Film still: Soulweaver – Memory of Tomorrow (2009)

This is a scene from the upcoming (premiere estimate 2017) post-apocalyptic Sci-Fi film Soulweaver: Requiem for Earth. The black and white and red photograph Memory of Tomorrow (a.k.a. The Ruins of Our Past, the Ruins of Our Future, 2009) is by Jukka Eronen & Satu Eronen.

This is the aftermath – the sunny scene preceding in this same place cuts from a thousand years in the past.

The forests, ruins and mythological places in the world of Soulweaver are based on real locations in south of Finland – see the maps and go see the places for yourself; while they exist and you can. (Disclaimer: this virtual concept precedes Pokémon Go 😉 ).

Here is more about the film.
